OUR STORY

Founded in January 2010, Vort Port International began with the serendipitous union of individuals interested in empowering people around the world to live higher-quality and more sustainable lifestyles. Although each team member brings a different point of view and background, the team shares the strong desire to solve common global issues such as providing access to clean energy, improved health care, and access to economic opportunities to developing communities world-wide.

With Merry Walker leading the team, Vort Port International began gaining momentum in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Through a wide-range of partnerships, our organization grew into an international non-profit, connecting individuals and organizations in India, Uganda, and Madagascar. Each project focuses on developing a different core technology to meet the basic needs of the chosen communities, but are linked by a common evaluation and development process to ensure that they are as sustainable as possible.

As Vort Port International continues to grow, newer projects emerge, and communities who were previously overlooked now have an organization to turn to. We are committed to providing low-cost and socially sustainable solutions, as well as building a stronger alliance of those who share our mission. Currently, our organization is receiving multiple requests for similar technical solutions to be applied in more locations throughout the world, and seeking individuals and groups to partner with us and support our cause.
